Machon Limud Halacha, Lemaan Yilmedu, offers a comprehensive course designed to prepare students for the prestigious Yadin Yadin semicha. This program is ideal for those who have already completed semicha studies and are looking to expand their knowledge and expertise in halacha.
At the Simchas Torah 5736 farbrengen, the Rebbe said, "Those who have already obtained semicha for "Yoreh Yoreh," should add and commit to finishing, by next year, semicha on "Yadin Yadin" too. By also learning "Yadin Yadin," not only will this be added, but by doing so, the "Yoreh Yoreh" will also be on a completely different level of depth and breadth.
Machon Limud Halacha, Lemaan Yilmedu, offers a comprehensive course designed to prepare students for the prestigious Yadin Yadin semicha. This will enable those for whom this is pertinent, to have a methodical course of study to earn the most reputable semicha certificate for Yadin Yadin.
The learning will include the entire chain of halacha, starting from learning the Tur and Beis Yosef in depth, and then the piskei Shulchan Aruch and the nosei keilim, down to the practical application. An emphasis will be placed on how to decide what to do with questions that arise in our modern era.
This is a four-year program. In the first two years, the halachos from Choshen Mishpat will be studied. In the third year, the halachos from Even HaEzern, and in the final year, the halachos from Orach Chaim and Yoreh Deah.
Along with a weekly two-hour shiur, students will be given booklets with summaries, from the Gemara to halacha l'maaseh. Of course self-study and review are necessary. There will also be shiurim with rabbanim who are experts in the subject matter in order to enrich the knowledge of the students with the experience of well-known rabbanim, experts in their fields.
A written test will be given every few months and there will occasionally be oral exams with rabbanim, members of the semicha committee. Those who do well on all the tests will receive the Yadin Yadin certificates, signed by top-tier rabbanim in the world of halacha.
As mentioned, this course is for those who have already successfully studied for semicha and are prepared to invest the time in studying the halachos needed by dayanim. The course is especially suited for shluchim who run kehillos or young men who see themselves leading kehillos and paskening halacha for the members of their communities.
